Hurricane Ian strikes Florida hospital from above and below

According to an intensive care unit doctor at a Florida hospital,

Hurricane Ian damaged the hospital's roof on the fourth floor as well as its emergency room.

"Several of the hospital's sickest patients were evacuated to other floors after water gushed down from above onto the ICU. "

As they attempted to clean up the sodden mess, staff members resorted to towels and plastic bins.

The reason is that we are doubled and tripled up."

Despite the damage to the hospital, only two floors are usable by patients.

Bodine plans to spend another night at the hospital, when storm injuries could worsen the situation.

"Currently, we aren't sure where to place the ambulances in the hospital as they may arrive soon.."

Although the flood has been overwhelming, Bodine says most patients have been understanding and optimistic.
