Amazon Will Close All But One US Customer Call Center

Amazon will close all but one of its US call centers, and shift hundreds of office employees to remote work

in order to save on real estate costs, according to people familiar with the matter.

The call centers that are currently scheduled to be shuttered are in Kennewick, Washington; Lexington, Kentucky and Phoenix

said one of the people who asked not to be named because they weren’t authorized to speak about the plans.

The call center that is most likely to remain open will be in Huntington, West Virginia or Houston, the person said, adding that the plans could still change.

On Wednesday, Bloomberg reported Amazon's plans to have their call-center employees work from home instead of in the office.

The Kennewick site is set to be closed as a result. When asked for a comment,

but didn't mention anything about any other planned office closings.
